German shepherd with devastating injuries rescued from neglectful home

A German shepherd who suffered grievous injuries has been rescued from a neglectful situation in Houston, Texas. The dog, named "Noah," was confiscated from his home and he is currently in the care of the non-profit rescue agency, Val's Pals GSD and Large Paw Rescue, which is trying to raise funds to help him recover from his wounds, which include one paw that is missing all of its flesh.

According to Monday's Click 2 Houston News, a neighbor alerted authorities to the situation at the young dog's former home. Dr. David Helcel with VERGI Emergency Animal Hospital described the injury to Noah's paw, "The bones that are showing, there is no flesh on them at all. Hes going to need to have his leg amputated."

On September 26, the rescue group wrote about the funds necessary to help Noah recover, "We are looking between 5 and 6k for his total treatment and surgeries. He is being kept comfortable and is on pain meds and antibiotic but we hope to raise enough money in the next week so we can move forward with his surgeries."

The investigation into Noah's former owners is ongoing - animal cruelty charges could be forthcoming. Click here to read more about fundraising efforts for Noah.
